Our Team
Kyla Alberto is a third year Sociology major and Entrepreneurship minor. As the Project Manager, she oversaw the progress of the project and set deadlines for the team. Doubling as the Content Developer, she was also responsible for developing the main narrative as she curated components of the website. Reflecting her interests in learning more about the human condition, Kyla is passionate about travel and building meaningful relationships.

Kaery Romero is a first year transfer student majoring in anthropology. As the editor, Kaery helped write the sources, processing, and presentation for the “About” page. Kaery also helped gather additional background information for the main narrative. One of Kaery’s favorite comics to read is Saga.
Cian Ying is a 3rd year Business Economics Major and Film, Television, and Digital Media minor. As the Data Visualization Specialist, he oversaw the projects data visualizations, and ensured the data was in the right format. Through the use of Tableau, and help from the Data Specialist created the visualizations for the project. Some of his hobbies include: hiking, surfing, and running.
Paul Li is a third year Linguistics major aiming at a minor in Digital Humanities. As the Data Specialist, he oversaw the accurate portrayal of the primary source data including cleaning and refining the data through Tableau and communicating errors to visualization creators. He also supported team content creation including the historical background timeline visualization. One of Paul’s favorite graphic novels is Boxers & Saints by Gene Luen Yang.
Mauricio Gutierrez is a 2nd year transfer student obtaining a degree in communication studies with a computing specialization and minor in digital humanities. He was in charge of designing this website and implementing all of the content of his teammates. He loves to learn and this project/class has been a great learning experience for him!
